Japanese School

These images of a kindergarten in Tokyo where some artists were commissioned to make art pieces through the kindergarten with the help of the children. The colours used are fresh and dreamlike - the uniforms of the children really stood out, with the solid colours of their caps against their neutral jumpers. I've started to become very interested in the way children handle life, through reading Miyazawa's 'The Milky Way Railroad'I've been thinking of how to imagine the characters of Giovanni and Campanella. And whilst watching the BBC documentary on the 'Children of the Tsunami' you are really amazed what children can handle, going through such terrible experiences and being able to calmly explain what has happened, how they cope and looking towards the future. I'd really like to be able to show in my FMP the innocence and determination of these children.
